This retailer operates one of North Americas largest and most successful privately owned wine and spirits businesses.  With over a dozen check-out lanes operating in real-time mode, this client benefits from up-to-the-minute inventory status and customer activity monitoring.  Integrated financials (AR/AP/GL), multiple in-bond and “duty-paid” warehousing, integrated catalog call center, Internet sales processing, integrated credit card processing, wines futures management, and an integrated Customer Loyalty program round out the complete solution that this very aggressive client requires to manage all areas of his business.


Operating company owned and international franchised operations, this client’s needs demand an extremely flexible, comprehensive software solution with rock solid financials.  Multiple currencies, bonded vs duty-paid warehousing, customer specific trade sale pricing, varied franchisee requirements, plus the requirement for a made-to-order service center module all presented the client with some serious challenges when selecting their software vendor.  With TOTAL Retail, this client manages the complexities of their multiple warehouses.  A custom service center module manages the automotive service bays and Retail stores update inventory and customer activity with Magstar’s real-time, interactive POS application.  Franchisees are provided with the full ability to totally self-manage, whether they have single or multiple locations.  


This West-Coast retailer operates over 50 retail stores, ranging in size from small, neighborhood stores, on up to large 24 hour super-stores.  Magstar provides the integration with a well known 3rd party POS software solution, providing timely and accurate updating of promotional and regular PLU pricing.  Sales activity is integrated with the Head Office Inventory Management system to enable auto-replenishment to stores and from vendors via EDI.  The application supports pre-distributed vendor PO’s for cross-docking or shipping directly to stores.  The main warehouse is a critical activity center for this client, and they make full use of TOTAL Retail’s Warehouse and Distribution management module, including “smart-pick” logic and the extensive use of hand held devices to maximize efficiency.


With retail stores and repair shops spread out from coast to coast, this specialized enterprise makes extensive use of TOTAL Retail’s interactive real-time POS application - all connected to Head Office via Frame Relay.  This unique configuration allows stores to quickly locate specific products, allocating and transferring them to satisfy their customer’s special orders.  Custom “Vendor Music Search”, “Repair Shop”, and “Instrument Rental” modules were vital additions that were provided to complete this clients special requirements.  


This client’s business model is the prime example of an extremely successful multi-channel retail enterprise.  They operate numerous corporate and franchised brick and mortar super-stores, as well as a thriving internet commerce site and international mail order/call centre catalogue fulfillment department.  Integrated accounting, flexible purchase order processes, and efficient warehouse management were all critical factors that led this client to select the TOTAL Retail package as their solution.  It was essential the warehouse have a highly efficient order fulfillment process, complete with “smart-pick” logic and RF handheld flexibility.  It was also essential that product orders from franchisees could be consolidated to single vendor orders, which would also include full distribution plans.  Selecting the TOTAL Retail in-store package allows this client to provide a totally seamless, integrated solution across the entire enterprise, and yet still offers franchisees the flexibility of choosing the level of store system that is most appropriate for their individual needs, whether they be a modest single location or an aggressive multi-location master franchisee.  All franchisees have the option of also including the optional full suite of accounting applications to their in-store package as well.
 

The ability for TOTAL Retail to manage the complexities of “fashion” products was paramount to this client’s acceptance of the TOTAL Retail solution for their enterprise.  Pleased with the application’s flexibility of unlimited colour/size combinations and efficient style management, they then closely examined all other areas of the system.  As an international, multi-channel retailer, it was essential that TOTAL Retail provide the functionality to manage their comprehensive CRM activities, multiple international warehouses, e-Commerce, warehousing and distribution, as well as their traditional brick and mortar retail locations.
