Magstar's Development

Founded in 1986 by Ron Ross, Bev Ross and Steven Greenwood, Magstar was developed specifically to meet the needs of small- to mid-size retail stores, chains and specialty stores. Magstar Total Retail became one of the first ERP solutions developed by retailers for retailers. From the beginning, the development approach taken was to leverage the profit-driving power of full integration by creating one robust, real-time, globally synchronized database for uncompromised information accuracy. Magstar Total Retail also avoided all data duplication, dead end code and double- or triple entries and hand entered data and spread sheets.

Magstar developed solutions that fit the business processes of their clients (vs. coding and then having to rework the business processes around the technology available). They also ensured their clients' could know - at the push of a button - exactly what data and goods they had, needed, wanted and where their goods are, were or will be -- anywhere within their stores, DC's or global supply chain. Magstar's clients would be guaranteed to get the right goods to the right location at the right time to optimize selling their goods at the best price. Magstar built features into Total Retail and all of their Total point solutions that were found in far more expensive solutions.

Magstar began as an integrated solution that included financials (AR, AP and GL's), order entry, purchase order management, multi-location stock management, and inventory (item) management. Total Retail was soon interfaced to 3rd party POS applications. In the next ten years, Magstar developed their own interactive POS application, promotional price management solution, and highly granular and flexible customer relationship management (CRM) and customer loyalty programs. They also ensured that Magstar's solution would work and could quickly be implemented throughout the front or the back of a retail enterprise - stores, call centers and distribution centers - in the most cost-effective way possible.

In the past 10 years, Magstar went to GUI POS, and released even more robust, sophisticated and fully-automated store management and merchandising optimization solutions. They refined and streamlined their Total Retail and point solutions and implemented Total Warehouse, Total BI / Analytics (that included fully customizable dashboards), and Total CRM and Total POS branded solutions. Development moved from UNIX to Linux, BI, and Magstar also built-in online capabilities and ensured true multi-channel synchronization for Total Retail enterprise-wide. Magstar has also continually strived to create a true paperless office and successfully went live with their wireless green Total Warehouse solution in 2009. In early 2010, Magstar announced their latest stand alone solution with Total Mobile POS and partnerships with industry leading wireless hardware handheld providers.

Most of Magstar's employees have been with the company long-term and are thus highly capable of offering Total Retail clients with the kind of stability and depth of knowledge required to optimally run their Total Retail solutions and profitably enhance their clients' businesses as if they were their own. This has resulted in repeated U.S. national recognition as the retail software industry's leader in customer service and overall client satisfaction with ultra-fast ROI. Magstar maintains a continued focus on innovative, bottom-line-driven solutions and have clients who are pleased to discuss how Magstar's solutions have benefited them and their businesses.
